The personal injury
lawyers are on the march. In many states they
are taking advantage of the results of the November
2006 election which brought to office many state
officials who oppose legal reform. In Iowa, as
reported in the new edition of AJP's Trial Bar
Watch, the Iowa Association of Business and
Industry (ABI) has counted as many as 50
anti-business bills in the legislature.
Co-author
Todd Young (left) joins AJP's Kristyn Shayon to
discuss tactics being used by the trial bar in seven states
profiled in this edition: Colorado,
Delaware, Iowa, Kentucky, North Carolina,
Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
AJP compiles this
insider view of how the trial bar is leveraging its
influence to expand business liability so that CEOs
and corporate lawyers will know what to expect in
the legal environment. AJP Partner organizations in
each state enable our team to provide summary
analysis that enables you to understand state
dynamics through the eyes of the leaders you are
counting on to stop the trial bar from destroying
the market environment.
In this edition, you
will learn how Delaware is on the verge of becoming
another Judicial Hellhole and how business is
currently losing the battle for legal reform in
states where anti-reform majorities
control one or both houses of the state lawmaking
bodies and governors have aligned with the trial
bar. In one state after another, decisions by state
Supreme Courts underscore the importance of their
role to the business community.
