On May 11th, the Pacific Research Institute (PRI)
released the U.S. Tort Liability Index: 2006 Report
that offers an economist's perspective on the health of each state's civil justice system
and provides a basis for predicting the impact of the civil
justice systems on economic conditions in the 50 states.
By using hard data to analyze the civil justice systems in the states, the PRI study breaks new
ground. The study provides an entirely fresh perspective
on which states are committed to achieving fair and predictable
civil justice systems. It highlights states that are
allowing their residents and businesses to be burdened with
costly and unfair civil justice systems.
