Governor Haley
Barbour and CFA President Dan Pero
Need more evidence that lawsuit
abuse reform creates concrete benefits? Reforms have
led to stunning improvements in Mississippi that the trial bar
cannot refute. In this short CFA video
interview, Governor Haley Barbour and
Dan Pero talk about the concrete benefits to small business and consumers
in Mississippi resulting from lawsuit abuse reform legislation.
(14 minutes)
Medical liability rates had been
"skyrocketing" before reforms, and now they are down
significantly. In the 12 months prior to reform, there
were 2,474 medical liability lawsuits against physicians
compared with 270 lawsuits afterwards. Doctors are going back to
practicing a full range of medical services and all this helps
to keep employees on the job and reduce employee healthcare
costs.
