Phil Goldberg Biography
Phil brings to the Shook,
Hardy & Bacon's Public Policy Group his extensive experience
in advocating for legal issues and his keen understanding of American
politics and media. He specializes in applying the “Iron Triangle” –
legislative, media and broad-based litigation solutions – to help
clients solve complex corporate litigation problems. In doing so, he
works with clients to achieve desirable legal public policy results that
transcend individual cases. Specifically, he lobbies Congress and state
legislatures, submits amicus briefs to appellate courts and educates the
public and other important audiences of client issues. Through his work,
Phil has become an emerging voice in the moderate wing of the Democratic
Party.
Before coming to the firm, Phil headed up the litigation communications
group for a top ten public relations firm, where he advised companies on
handling public and legislative challenges stemming from litigation
dockets. His clients have included Fortune 100 companies and privately
held businesses, and the issues have ranged from tort liability to
intellectual property to employment discrimination. Prior to that, he
served as communications director and spokesman for several Democratic
members of Congress. While in law school, he was a member of the Order
of the Coif.
Phil has written extensively on legal, public policy and
litigation-related public relations issues. He has been published under
his own name in the New Jersey Law Journal, The Metropolitan Corporate
Counsel and the Washington Business Journal. He has collaborated with
high-profile authors on op-eds that have appeared in the Wall Street
Journal, the Washington Post and the San Francisco Chronicle, as well as
in several other news and industry publications.
