Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI

The Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI, established in 1933, is a nonprofit executive development and business research organization serving the needs of senior corporate management of its nearly 500 member companies.  Our activities range from economic forecasting and policy research in a wide array of economic, legal, and management areas to the operation of Executive Councils and Conferences for executives in nearly every management discipline.

Our policy research and publication program has long addressed issues associated with U.S. civil justice reform.  Our 2003 book, I PAY, YOU PAY, WE ALL PAY—How the Growing Tort Crisis Undermines the U.S. Economy and the American System of Justice, details some of the serious problems inherent in, and recommends practical reforms for, today’s U.S. civil justice system.  More recent studies have explored a variety of critical civil justice reform subjects, including asbestos, silica, and class action litigation and the changing judicial climate in Illinois.  Alliance research in this area has a special focus on the impact of our legal system on the economic prospects of the domestic manufacturing sector, including the high technology subsector.

Additional information about the Alliance and its programs and activities can be found on its website at www.mapi.net.
